The End of the World Begins Here: Ushuaia

Dear reader,
Today is the day I start my journey with you through my travels around the world!
And I’ve chosen to begin with a place that’s truly special and unique: Ushuaia, also known as The End of the World.
But why is it called that?
I’ll get there — but first, I want you to take a moment and imagine the breathtaking view from the southernmost city on Earth, just before Antarctica.

Ushuaia is located in Argentina, South America, and it holds the title of the southernmost city in the entire world. It’s about 1,200 km away from Antarctica, which is why people call it The End of the World. In fact, many Antarctic cruises stop in Ushuaia before heading further south. Of course, I wasn’t on one of those cruises — my plan was to explore the city itself.
This trip was really special, both for me and for my sister. We both needed a breath of fresh air in life, and for some reason, The End of the World felt like the perfect place for that.
It was a mix of:
“We only live once — let’s make the most of it!”
…and
“I can’t spend all my money here — I still have bills to pay!”
So, to make the most of our short time, we decided to book through a local agency. And honestly? The hardest part was actually choosing the agency and deciding which activities to fit into just four days! There’s so much to do.

The agency we chose was called Patagonia For You — and I’d totally recommend it.
If I could give you one tip: go with an agency, plan your days ahead, and if possible, also arrange for an airport transfer. Ushuaia’s airport is small, and many agencies offer the shuttle service, which makes everything easier.
A little unexpected twist:
We actually had to readjust our entire schedule, thanks to an airline issue (a story for another post!). But the agency was super helpful and flexible, and they helped us rearrange everything last-minute.
Day 1:
We arrived early in the morning, dropped our bags at our Airbnb — which, by the way, was perfectly located and had everything we needed. The hosts were very king an left us a cake and a bottle of wine as a welcome gift!
Without wasting time, we headed straight to our first activity: The Beagle Channel Navigation.
And believe me, it was absolutely worth it. Starting our Ushuaia adventure with this boat trip was the perfect choice — the views were some of the most amazing I’ve ever seen in my life.
(I’ll leave a big photo here so you can appreciate it too!)
I’ll write a more detailed post about each activity later, but I can already tell you: this one is a must-do.

Later that same day we visited Tierra del Fuego National Park and hopped on the famous End of the World Train. We rode all the way to the end of National Route 3, which offers the iconic view of Lapataia Bay.
The train ride itself takes about 1h and 40 minutes and feels very thematic. The wagons are small, the scenery is beautiful, and you also get to listen to explanations about the history and nature along the way.
This is another experience I highly recommend.
That’s the start of my Ushuaia story — I’ll be sharing more about each activity in the next posts. Until then, let me know: Would you dare to travel to the End of the World?

Trust me, The End of the World is just the beginning.
Thanks for reading!
